Wildwood & Sage, a green living, lifestyle blog.
Complete brand design, including the logo. Web design and development.
The brand was intended to have a bohemian and hippie vibe. Adding in hand-crafted, natural touches was essential to
capturing its essence. The font Tanglewoods was chosen for the logo. The font also includes various alternate symbols which are also incorporated through the brand’s visuals including social media graphics. Cormorant Garamond was selected to compliment Tanglewoods for it’s traditional and clean feel. It balances out the flourishes of handwritten Tanglewoods.
The colors were pulled directly from an image of sage, the namesake plant of the brand. The greens and purples compliment each other and provide contrast. The watercolor texture was also selected to enhance the handmade, bohemian feel of the brand.
Imagery colors were suggested to be bright images in a warm tone with themes that surround nature and simple living. Natural elements such as rocks, trees were suggested along with new age elements like salt lamps, gemstones, incense and herbs or essential oils. These not only compliment the content of the blog but the lifestyle associated with the brand.
Site design was to immediately welcome visitors and encourage them to join the Wildwood & Sage community. The visuals were to take a high priority to set the immediate feeling of the site and feel like the visitor is coming home.
Emphasis was placed on encouraging sign ups for the blog’s newsletter, while most recent blog posts were also added to the site’s homepage to encourage new visitors to read the blog as well.
The site was developed on WordPress using the Genesis Framework. WordPress was chosen for it’s ease of use for blogging and support of essential blog functions.\
